  • Peacepod Inspiration: The Dept. of Peace Campaign

    The Peace Alliance

The original Peacepod podcasts came into being during the 2005 Department of Peace Campaign National Conference.  At that time podcasting was a completely new form of audio programming.  We saw the format as a perfect way to bring voice to the enormous efforts being made to raise awareness.  A way for us to give something back to the community.

During a two and a half year effort, podcasters Emily Richards, Brad Stanfield and myself, Jason Brock, produced over 300 episodes that chronicle the heart and spirit of peace activism during the Bush era.  These podcasts are widely distributed online, and archived at the Peacepod's first home, Songserverworldwide.com.  We plan to keep that site open and available for as long as possible so listeners can download past episodes.

In 2007 the podcast silently went offline.  The first era of The Peacepod had come to a close.  It was a crazy fun-filled run that changed all of our lives.  Though it was hard to say goodbye, we all very much needed some time to gain a new perspective.

As we get ready to launch The Peacepod 2.0, we will incorporate some of the ideas that we've had during our hiatus, while retaining the core essence of the show.  As always music will be at the forefront of the production.  The new aspects of our podcast will reflect the changes that have occurred in the online landscape.  That is why it makes perfect sense for Tunetrack.net to be our new home.

Thank you for joining us as we move forward.  Our first step is to reconnect with the DOP campaign, from the very beginning.  Currently the Peace Alliance is spearheading the campaign and enjoying much deserved success.  Please support their efforts any way you can.  Visit the website at http://www.thepeacealliance.org/
