2008-2012 Founder and Director of Artist and Business Development, ArtisTech Media--Jason helped build a state-of-the-art online music label with a close knit circle of talented musicians artists and web-developers. Creative Commons transferred operations of world renowned remix site, ccMixter.org, to ArtisTech in Oct. 2009. He frequently produces remixes and hosts a new podcast entitled “The Hook.”
President, AWAKE Community--Jason serves to raise awareness on various social issues through the arts.
Early career In Los Angeles:
Formed the rock band Blowtorch Opera in 1990 with front man and Cherokee recording studio co-worker Paul Condon, bassist Geoff Hartman, and Drummer Mike Nieland. The Hartman-Nieland-Brock trio remained a solid rhythm section and went on to record and tour with numerous bands including Maximum R.O.A.C.H., Orangehand and MP3.com popstar Emily Richards.
Moved to San Diego in the spring of 2005 and founded the podcasting website Songserverworldwide.com which was home to Peacepod podcasting. Brock experimented extensively with ambient and electronic remixes in the creative commons world of ccmixter.org. In 2006, Brock formed the experimental quartet 2012AM with Emily Richards, breakbeat artist DJ Quenique, and ambient artist Mark Wooton.
Currently, remixes can be heard around the world in countless video productions on YouTube, Vimeo and other media channels as remix artist spinningmerkaba. Spinningmerkaba has produced 65 remixes and has been remixed 310 times, receiving multiple editorial picks and positive peer reviews at CcMixter.org.
