Heal The Gyre Educates at Crestridge Ecological Reserve

Heal The Gyre educated, performed and interacted with visitors at the Crestridge Ecological Reserve on June 6. Children and adults learned facts about the pollution in the North Pacific Gyre and the negative impact of the tons of waste stuck floating there. Many took the No Plastic Bags and Bottles Pledge!

Heal The Gyre visited a local high school on May 27, 2009 to educate students about the tons and tons of plastic waste in the North Pacific Gyre and ask them to sign the whale and take the No Plastic Pledge (no more plastic bags or bottles).

On EarthDay 2009, thousands pledged to stop using plastic bags at San Diego retail and grocery stores by signing the Heal the Gyre whale.

On April 20, 2009, Heal the Gyre was featured as the largest exhibit at Earth Fair, the largest Earth Day celebration in the United States. Thousands of people signed the No Plastic Pledge by vowing to stop using plastic water bottles and plastic bags when shopping in retail and grocery outlets.
