This is a road song with many sources of inspiration. Steve's love of rockabilly led to the creation of the main riff that this song took shape around. Horses in a field outside one of our rehearsal spaces also seemed to like it, for some strange reason. The title is a play on the title of the classic song "Get Your Kicks on Route 66". For many years, "Future 86" has been seen on the road signs along Route 17 in upstate New York, as construction slowly turns the highway into Interstate 86.
