Emily Richards
CEO, Emily Richards, is an independent musician and entrepreneur. She served as the President/COO of MP3tunes from its inception in 2005 to September 2008. With 11 self-released albums, Ms. Richards was the most downloaded pop/rock artist on MP3.com. Ms. Richards is well versed in matters of music copyright, distribution and the DMCA, with the perspective of both musician and executive. Emily is co-founder/Chairman of the nonprofit AWAKE Community. Ms. Richards is a CPA and worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1993 to 2004, while simultaneously managing her music career. Ms. Richards is the artist ‘Snowflake’ on ccMixter.
Alex Goodwin
Chief Software Architect, L. Alex Goodwin, co-founded PINE in 2002, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to create a Community Wireless ISP (Pinelink) in rural Pamlico, NC. PINE received over $240,000 in grants. Mr. Goodwin developed integrated network management and support tools in PHP and Python while serving on the Board of Directors, before stepping down in 2006 to work as a client/web engineer at MP3tunes until 2008. Alex is a staunch supporter, and heavy user of Open Source Software, and worked on projects including GRASS and pyMusique/Musik. Mr. Goodwin is the artist ‘go1dfish’ on ccMixter.
Jason Brock
Director of Artist & Business Development, Jason Brock, is the founder of SongServer WorldWide, a podcasting company he grew to 40,000 iTunes subscribers in less than two years. Songserver published over 300 “PeacePod” podcasts, many of which feature tracks from ccMixter artists. Jason is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer with three self-released albums. Jason is co-founder/President of nonprofit AWAKE Community. Mr. Brock is the artist ‘SpinningMerkaba’ on ccMixter.
Derek Ford
V.P. of Engineering, G. Derek Ford, began supporting Open Source projects in 1998 by joining the documentation efforts of the PHP Manual, which started a general interest in the power and creativity enabled by distributed collaborative editing. Derek worked as a developer for MP3tunes from 2005 to 2008, writing embedded applications for the Nokia Internet Tablet series of devices. In 2009, Mr. Ford worked with Achieve Internet to provide PHP/Web Development services to MTV and Blue Studios. Derek is a strong supporter of Open Source standards, formats and open licenses, believing in the benefit each give to creative freedom.
Kirsten Swartz-Morton
Director of Resources & Entertainment, Kirsten Swartz-Morton, worked in the same capacity for MP3tunes from 2005 to 2008. She is also founder/Director of CPU and waxworthy Productions, producing dozens of electronic music/DJ events across the country. Ms. Swartz-Morton is an avid music lover and is exploring the world of music production using software such as Reason and Ableton. She also helped facilitate the Snowflake MegaMix for ccMixter with DJ Quenique.
Dale Richards
ArtisTech Board Director and Optimization Consultant, Dale Richards, is the CEO of both Excel Management Systems and Gate-Way Capital. Taking over 50 companies from start-up to funding, Mr. Richards became an officer of the Mountain West Venture Capital Group in 1987 and went on to become its President and Chairman and continues to serve on its Board.
